STORY:
Blacksmith Quarters, Old Wilpena Station
During some down time at the Wilpena Ponds Resort, I decided to go for a quick drive to Old Wilpena Station, which was a short drive away. At first, I was having a little trouble finding the place. Then, through the trees I saw what looked like huts. I parked the car, grabbed my gear and off I went. I paused part way to capture a panoramic view of the place. Then I made my way to one of the buildings which, on the information board at the entrance, noted as the Blacksmith Quarters. As I was getting closer, I wondered what I was going to see. I entered, turned my view to the left, and, WOW! OMG! A Blacksmiths work space. I was like a kid in a candy store. Then I made my way to the next building which was noted as the store. If the walls could talk the stories they would tell. The ambiance was incredible.
